Week four: The final top tips to tackle your water usage!

It’s the final week of the Servis Start the Cycle challenge and our water-saving consumers have been sharing a few final thoughts on how to be wise with your water:

  • Use a broom instead of a hose to clean your patios, sidewalks etc. If it's done regularly, you won't need to hose them
  • Only water your plants when necessary – more die from over-watering than from under-watering
  • Don't throw away your pets drinking water, reuse it on your plants in the garden
  • When running the tap for hot water, collect the cold water for later use. Pop it in the fridge for drinking or keep it on the side – it can be used for water for your pets or for the garden
  • Reuse the water from your cooked or steamed veg to make a nutritious soup – this can also be frozen and saved for later
  • If you’re only making a cup of tea for yourself don’t fill the kettle to the top, only use as much as you need
  • Save your laundry until you have a full load
  • Dispose of tissues in the bin instead of flushing them down the toilet
  • Insulate your hot water pipes so you get hot water faster

Keep an eye out on our Facebook and Twitter pages for water-saving advice throughout the rest of June and use #Startthecycle to share your tips on what helps you save.
